Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Kompela Madhavi Latha, who contested the Lok Sabha elections from Hyderabad, has been barred from participating in the Ganesh procession in Karnataka's Bagalkot district. According to the information, Madhavi Lata was invited to the Hindu Maha Ganpati immersion program in Bagalkot. On behalf of Bagalkot district administration, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sangappa has issued an order to ban his entry into the district. Now a dispute has arisen between Madhavi Lata and Karnataka administration regarding this.
According to Madhavi Lata, she was supposed to attend the Ganesh procession in Bagalkot but on Wednesday, Bagalkot police officials with the help of Telangana Police reached her and gave her a notice. In this notice he was told not to enter Bagalkot. Madhavi Lata said that she has signed the papers brought by the police officers.

Why did the administration impose a ban?
The Bagalkot district administration has banned Madhavi Lata from entering the district from September 23 to October 23. This order has been issued under the powers of the District Magistrate under Section 163 of the Indian Judicial Code i.e. BNS. The order states that it is necessary to follow it and legal action can be taken in case of violation.
According to reports, Bagalkot SP Siddharth Goyal had written a letter to the district administration and recommended banning the entry of Madhavi Lata. After this Deputy Commissioner Sangappa issued the order. The reason for this has been cited by the administration as the fear of breach of law and order and peace. The police report also mentions the speeches given by Madhavi Lata on different occasions. These include a case in which he imitated shooting an arrow towards the mosque.

Now Madhavi Lata herself has come forward and given a statement on this controversy and has raised questions on the decision of the administration. He said that he was surprised to know that he was being stopped from going to Bagalkot on the occasion of Ganesh Shobhayatra. He said, 'Being a responsible citizen, I signed the notice given by the administration, but I have a question for these officers that on the basis of which you have stopped me, do you have any evidence that there was any riot after that incident. My election was the most peaceful election. Did I stop working for minorities after this?
