Two months after taking over as Chief Minister of Karnataka, D.K. Shivakumar on Monday received approval to expand his cabinet. The Congress high command announced the names of 20 new ministers in the state. These 20 MLAs will be sworn in as ministers.
Giving information, the Karnataka Chief Minister’s Office said that the swearing-in ceremony of the new ministers will be held at Lok Bhavan at 4:05 pm on Monday.
These are the names of the new ministers
The 20 names approved by the Congress high command include PM Narendraswamy, Shivraj Tangadagi, Rudrappa Lamani, KS Basavantappa, B Nagendra, T Raghumurthy, BZ Zaheer Ahmed Khan, Rizwan Arshad, Santosh Lad, Madhu Bangarappa, Putturangashetty, Mankala Vaidya, Ajay Singh, N Chaluvaraya Swamy, KM Shivalinge Gowda, HC Balakrishna, Gayatri Shantigowda, Basavaraj Rayareddy, Vijayanand Kashappanavar and Laxman Savadi.
Congress General Secretary gave information
Congress General Secretary for Organization KC Venugopal sent a letter to Chief Minister Shivakumar informing him of the Congress high command’s approval of these 20 names for inclusion in the Council of Ministers. The Congress leadership also approved GS Patil as the new Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and AS Ponnanna as the Deputy Speaker.
State Legislative Council Chairman’s name announced
The party also decided to appoint Salim Ahmed as the new Chairman of the State Legislative Council and Umashree as the Deputy Chairman. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar was sworn in as Chief Minister on June 3 after Siddaramaiah resigned on May 28. He was sworn in along with 13 ministers. The sanctioned strength of the Council of Ministers in Karnataka, including the Chief Minister, is 34.
