The trailer of Kartavya brought actor Saif Ali Khan back in a serious and intense role, where he played a police officer caught between duty and personal struggle. The film was backed by Shah Rukh Khan through Red Chillies Entertainment and featured Saif in the lead role.
According to the trailer, Saif’s character Pawan was shown as a police officer who faced a major crisis after a journalist was shot under his protection. The incident placed him under pressure from senior officers and the public.
The story moved forward with Pawan starting a search for the attacker. As the investigation continued, he was shown dealing with rising corruption and serious challenges within the system.
The trailer also highlighted his personal life, which began to fall apart during the case. A family issue involving his brother added more pressure and forced him into difficult decisions.
During the promotion, the Hum Tum actor spoke about his long association with Shah Rukh Khan. He said, “I’ve had a lovely and long association with Shah Rukh. He’s someone I look up to in many, many ways.”
Saif further explained that Shah Rukh Khan had shared the script and asked him to join the project. Saif said he went through the script and later met the director before agreeing to the film.
The Dil Chahta Hai actor also shared that Shah Rukh Khan stayed away from the set during shooting. He said the producer believed in giving full creative freedom to the director.
The film Kartavya which Pulkit directed and wrote and Gauri Khan produced through Red Chillies Entertainment showcases Sanjay Mishra and Saurabh Dwivedi and Zakir Hussain and Manish Chaudhari as its outstanding supporting actors.
Kartavya was scheduled to release on Netflix on May 15, 2026.
