Kashmiri Pandits again in panic due to new ‘hit list’, plea for increased security and strict stance of the government – ..

Once again, clouds of crisis are looming over the Kashmiri Pandit employees who are providing their services under the Prime Minister’s Package in the Kashmir Valley of Jammu and Kashmir. There is an atmosphere of panic among the employees after an alleged threatening letter and new ‘hit list’ went viral on social media. This list claims to contain the names of some employees, their addresses and even the numbers of vehicles, after which there has been panic in the security agencies and administration.

Strong demand from administration to increase security

In view of this serious situation, All PM Package Employees Forum Kashmir has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Administration demanding immediate intervention and tightening of security. The Forum has said that this threatening letter is dated August 23, which has been issued in the name of an organization calling itself ‘United Liberation Council’.

The organization says that it is extremely worrying for personal and sensitive information of employees to become public. The forum has demanded a high-level inquiry from the administration as to how this confidential data reached the perpetrators of the threat. Also, an appeal has been made to provide special security to all offices, employees’ residences and affected personnel.

‘We are not afraid of threats’

Even though concerns regarding security have deepened, the morale of Kashmiri Pandit employees is high. An employee posted in the valley said in clear words that such cowardly threats cannot scare them and force them to leave their birthplace. He said that they will neither be afraid nor run away from the valley, because Kashmir is their motherland too. It is noteworthy that earlier this month also a similar threatening letter had come out, due to which questions are being raised on the safety of the employees.

Government and political reaction

The government has also taken a tough stance on this entire incident. Jammu and Kashmir Government Minister Javed Rana gave a sharp reaction and said that the Lieutenant Governor is seriously investigating which agencies and forces of the country and abroad are involved in this conspiracy. He said that Pakistan is always engaged in its nefarious conspiracies and such elements are being kept under strict vigil so that peace and security can be maintained in the valley.
