Keralam: UDF Govt’s swearing-in tomorrow; 21 ministers to take oath

Thiruvananthapuram: The picture regarding the formation of the new government in Kerala has now become almost clear.

On Sunday, UDF leader VD Satheesan announced that the swearing-in ceremony for the new government will take place on Monday morning at 10:00 AM.

A significant highlight is that, for the first time in nearly 60 years, the entire UDF cabinet will take the oath of office together. A total of 21 ministers—including VD Satheesan—will take the oath of office and secrecy.

VD Satheesan stated that a list of 20 ministers has already been submitted to the Governor. If his name is added to this list, a total of 21 individuals will form part of the new government.

He noted that this entire list was forwarded to the Governor only after receiving approval from the party high command. However, satisfying everyone regarding the new cabinet proved to be no easy task.

Addressing this, VD Satheesan explicitly acknowledged that there were indeed several leaders who were deserving of a ministerial berth; however, keeping regional and social balance in mind, they could not be accommodated.

In other words, during the formation of the government, consideration was given not merely to political expediency, but also to various regions and different sections of society.
