Khalistani terrorist threat: High alert in Delhi-Uttarakhand, temples and railway stations are on target.
New Delhi: Security agencies have become alert regarding the possibility of Khalistani terrorist attack in Delhi and Uttarakhand. According to Delhi Police sources, a threatening email has been received in which a major attack has been warned. After this, Delhi Police, Uttarakhand Police and intelligence agencies have issued high alert in the entire area.
Temple, office and leader on target
Sources said that many temples, government offices and political leaders have been mentioned as possible targets in the email. Delhi Police is now investigating this threat in depth. According to intelligence input, Khalistani terrorists may attack temples, government institutions, railway stations and policemen in Uttarakhand and Delhi in the coming days. Security had already been beefed up following the recent clash between Nihang Sikhs and police in Uttarakhand. Now this new alert has increased the concern further.
Nihang-police conflict has stopped for the time being
The ongoing conflict between Nihang Sikhs and Uttarakhand Police has now calmed down. The group demanding the release of four Nihangs arrested for injuring local people in Chamoli has currently retreated from the Himachal-Uttarakhand border. The situation has returned to normal after assurance from the officials.
This tension started with the Chamoli incident on 16 June. On June 20, a group of Nihangs had captured Nagarasu Gurudwara in Rudraprayag. After meditation and prayers on June 23, he left from there. Then on June 25, a large group reached Dehradun and reiterated the demand for the release of the arrested Nihangs. After the conversation, the police assured that allegations of bias in the investigation will be investigated.
What happened in Karnaprayag on 16th June?
The root of the controversy is the incident that took place on June 16 in Karnaprayag, Chamoli. An argument between Nihang pilgrims returning from the Hemkund Sahib Yatra and local traders had turned violent. It is alleged that four Nihangs attacked a businessman and the people who came to intervene with swords. Four people were injured in this.
The police registered an FIR and arrested four accused and sent them to judicial custody. A group of Nihangs were continuously protesting against this arrest. At present, after the intelligence alert, security has been tightened in temples, railway stations and crowded areas in Delhi-Uttarakhand.
