Kit Connor was cast as Cyclops.
According to a report from Deadline, Kit Connor, best known for his role in Heartstopper, is set to play Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops, in Marvel’s new X-Men film. Kit has previously worked on A24’s Warfare and Elden Ring. Marvel has been searching for new members of the X-Men team for a long time, and now the names of key characters are emerging. With Kit Connor’s name confirmed, the film’s main cast will be almost complete.
Connection with Jean Grey and Emma Frost
The report also states that Sadie Sink will appear as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, while Samara Weaving has been cast as Emma Frost. Thus, the new X-Men film could feature a story between Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Emma Frost. The relationship between these three has been significant in the comics, so it’s expected that their story will be retold in the film.
The importance of the new X-Men film in Marvel’s plans
Cyclops first appeared in The X-Men #1 in 1963, and has since become one of the key leaders of the X-Men team. On the other hand, a different version of the character will be played by James Marsden in Avengers: Doomsday. Old characters like Professor X and Magneto will also return in the film. Another Heartstopper actor, Joe Locke, has already appeared as Wiccan in Agatha All Along. Kit Connor’s entry makes it clear that Marvel plans to expand the X-Men universe significantly in the coming years.
