Popular celebrity chat show Koffee with Karan is reportedly set to conclude with its upcoming ninth season, marking the end of a two-decade-long run.
However, host and filmmaker Karan Johar is reportedly planning to launch a brand-new talk show under his own production banner to retain full intellectual property rights.
According to reports, while the concept for the new project is largely in place, details regarding the platform, format, and timeline remain undisclosed, and official confirmation is awaited.
A recently released teaser confirmed that Season 9 will serve as the show’s final edition. In the emotional promo, Johar reflected on pitching the show to his late father, Yash Johar, in 2004, shortly before his passing. He candidly addressed the show’s legacy—acknowledging its association with controversy, industry gossip, and the infamous “nepotism” debate—while humorously noting how it nearly impacted several high-profile careers.
First premiering on Star World India in 2004 before transitioning to digital streaming platforms, Koffee with Karan became a cultural phenomenon known for its rapid-fire rounds, candid confessions, and unfiltered celebrity banter. Johar concluded the teaser by inviting fans to join him for “one last cup of coffee.”
