Kolkata Violence Latest Update: There was a huge uproar on Sunday in the Park Circus area of Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. The protest that started against the recent bulldozer action in Tiljala area suddenly turned violent. A large number of protesters had gathered at the minority-dominated Park Circus Seven Points crossing. During this, the protesters pelted stones at the police. At least three police officers have been seriously injured in this violent clash.
The angry mob also vandalized several vehicles parked on the roadside, including the vehicles of the central forces. This entire controversy had started a few days ago. Earlier this week, a massive fire broke out in a factory in Tiljala. Two people had died in this accident. After this incident, the West Bengal government took a strict stance against alleged illegal constructions in the area.
Action on the orders of CM Suvendu
Let us inform that on the orders of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, the administration started anti-encroachment campaign and used bulldozers to demolish illegal buildings. People came out on the streets on Sunday afternoon in protest against this administrative action. The protesters tried to block the road near Park Circus seven points crossing. According to the police, the crowd of protesters had completely blocked the road. The police tried to disperse the crowd, calling it an illegal gathering. Meanwhile, a group of protesters started pelting stones targeting the policemen.
This sudden stone pelting created an atmosphere of panic and anarchy in the entire area. The mob took law and order into their own hands and targeted the vehicles parked there. The windows of vehicles of central security forces were broken.

Seeing the situation in the area becoming tense, teams of Kolkata Police and central forces were deployed on the spot. To control the situation, route marches and patrolling have been intensified in the entire area. Kolkata Police Additional Commissioner Ashish Biswas said that strict legal action has been initiated against those involved in the violence. He said that some people had tried to block the road. This was an illegal gathering. When the police tried to remove them, stones were pelted. Three of our comrades have been injured. We have also arrested some people.
What is the main reason for the outbreak of violence?
On one hand, while the police is directly linking this protest to administrative action against illegal buildings, on the other hand the local people have something else to say.
