Demand for protection on use of name, voice and photographs
In her petition, Kriti Sanon has demanded protection of the rights related to her personality. Advocate Praveen Anand, appearing on his behalf, told the court that personality rights can include many aspects related to the identity of a person. These include things like name, face, voice, photos and videos.
In such cases, commercial use of a person's identity without permission can also become a subject of legal dispute. Kriti's petition aims to seek protection from such unauthorized use of her identity.
High Court asked for old decisions and research papers
The case was heard in the court of Justice Purushendra Kumar Kaurav. During the hearing, the court asked for a list of old decisions and research papers from Kriti Sanon's lawyer.
The court also wants to consider to what extent a person's identity can be protected under the law. Along with this, there was also a need to understand the aspects related to the jurisdiction of the Intellectual Property Division (IPD) of the High Court. The court will take further decision in the case only after considering the documents and legal provisions.
The next hearing in this case will be on October 29. The court has asked to present relevant legal material, so that questions related to personality rights can be considered in detail.
Many celebrities also reached court for personality rights
Many well-known personalities from the film and entertainment world have taken legal action against misuse of their name, picture, voice and identity. These include names like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Kangana Ranaut, Tabu, Vijay Deverakonda and Yuvraj Singh.
