Kushinagar: Farmers angry over delay in compensation payment despite submission of documents, appeal to General Manager

Kushinagar. Farmers affected by Chhitauni-Tamkuhi Road New Railway Line Project have expressed their displeasure over the delay in compensation payment and have sought intervention from General Manager of North Eastern Railway, Gorakhpur, Mr. Uday Borwankar. Farmers say that after the completion of the land acquisition process, they have provided all the necessary documents to the administration and the concerned department on time. Despite this, the compensation amount has not been paid yet by the SLO (Special Land Acquisition Officer) Deoria/Kushinagar office, due to which they are facing financial and mental problems.

The affected farmers allege that departmental officials assured them several times of submission of documents and prompt payment, but even after a long wait, the compensation amount did not reach their bank accounts. Farmers say that their difficulties are increasing due to delay in payments amidst farming, family responsibilities and other financial needs.

Journalist Pramod Kumar Gupta, resident of Jathan market, said that the documents were submitted on July 1, 2026 and the affected farmers said that this rail project is an important scheme of public interest. They have made their land available while cooperating in development works, hence they should get timely compensation as per rules. The farmers demanded that those whose documents have been completed should be paid immediately without any unnecessary delay and the current status of the payment process should also be made public.

The affected farmers have demanded the General Manager of North Eastern Railway, Mr. Uday Borvankar, to take cognizance of the matter and issue necessary instructions to the concerned officials and ensure the pending compensation payment immediately. Farmers say that if there is no solution soon, they will be forced to raise their voice democratically.
