French star Kylian Mbappe has the support of the President of France Emmanuel Macron.
France beating Paraguay unleashed a serious controversy when the Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla made offensive remarks about the winning team.
Amarilla’s statement was received harshly by masses and even prompted a stern response from Mbappe himself.
In his statement, the football star wrote “Madame Celeste Amarilla, you are a despicable woman and unworthy of your position. You do not represent Paraguay, that country which has sweated passion and honor throughout the competition.”
Mbappe’s reaction was supported by the French president who took to X to share his support for the young star.
Macron wrote “Another goal for Kylian Mbappe. Against racism this time. All my support. When words defile, our values respond: dignity, respect, fraternity.”
Even the Paraguayan government said it “deplores and rejects the statements” made by the senator.
The European nation beat Paraguay in a thrilling match on July 5 which ended in 0-1, ledy Mbappe’s penalty.
