Lanterns Offers Best Look Yet at Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern Costume in New DCU TV Show Video

HBO Max has released a new Lanterns TV show video. DCU fans are in for a treat. The first five minutes of the show offer the best look yet of Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern suit.

Right off the bat, the series establishes that humanity is already under the protection of the Green Lantern. The debut episode opens with a 1996 interview in which a television presenter introduces this superhero who saved Victoria Falls by stopping a meteor from destroying it.

We then see Hal Jordan on television, revealing himself to be Green Lantern. The shot features the first clear look at Kyle Chandler sporting the iconic green suit. The suit’s design is debonair and bold, featuring the familiar seal of the Green Lantern Corps.

The interview continues with Hal saying, “I’m an Air Force veteran. I’m a former test pilot. And really… just that I’m a regular person, like you.” The host then clarifies, “Except that you’re also Earth’s first Green Lantern.” The sequence also introduces a young John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre as an adult.

How John Stewart’s story connects to Hal Jordan’s legacy

The first five minutes of the TV series show Hal nearing retirement, and he wants to train the latest Green Lantern recruit to replace himself. This new recruit is Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart.

However, Stewart is a unique recruit as he is the first member of the Green Lantern Corps to be selected by the Guardians of the Universe instead of being traditionally chosen by a power ring.

The dynamic between Hal and John takes center stage in DCU’s Lanterns. In addition to Chandler and Pierre, the much-awaited series also stars Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Ulrich Thomsen, and Nathan Fillion, who reprises his role as Guy Gardner.
