Skoda and Volkswagen have already launched multiple models in India, including the Kodiaq vRS and Tayron R-Line. Apart from these premium SUVs, both brands also have a decent number of mass-market models in their Indian line-up. Here is a list of four such Skoda and Volkswagen models that are expected to arrive in our market soon.
The Slavia is one of the best-selling mid-size sedans in its segment. Skoda recently unveiled the updated sedan, and bookings for the same are already open. The official price announcement is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
As part of the update, the sedan gets revised headlamps, a new bumper and grille with connected LED DRLs, new alloy wheels, and revised tail lamps.
Inside, the Slavia retains the same basic cabin design as the outgoing version but gets a new theme. It now comes with a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch driver display, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control, a rear-seat massager, seat ventilation, and more.
The sedan continues to be offered with the 1.0-litre TSI engine, which gets manual and new 8-speed automatic transmission options. The 1.5-litre TSI engine continues to be paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission.
Skoda’s best-selling model in the Indian market is the sub-4-metre SUV Kylaq. It currently comes with a 1.0-litre TSI engine paired with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Skoda even launched the Sportline variant of Kylaq recently.
The Kylaq has been in the market for a couple of years now, and it looks like an update is due for the SUV. When Skoda introduces the facelift, the exterior is expected to receive minor cosmetic changes along with a few feature updates.
We could also see the new 8-speed automatic transmission, which would replace the existing 6-speed unit in the updated Kylaq.
Now that Skoda has officially unveiled the Slavia facelift, we expect Volkswagen to launch the Virtus facelift in the coming months. The Virtus is expected to receive a revised front fascia with a connecting LED bar and an illuminated Volkswagen logo. Other changes could include revised headlamps, a new bumper, new alloy wheel designs, and updated LED tail lamps.
The sedan is also expected to receive feature updates such as a larger driver display, a 10.1-inch infotainment system, leatherette upholstery, electrically adjustable seats, a sunroof, seat ventilation, and more. However, it is likely to miss the rear-seat massager feature offered in the updated Slavia.
The sedan will continue to be offered with the 1.0-litre TSI engine, paired with a 6-speed manual or new 8-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre TSI engine will continue to be offered with a 7-speed DSG only.
After looking at the success of the Kylaq, Volkswagen has finally decided to enter the sub-4-metre SUV segment. This will be Volkswagen’s second sub-4-metre product in India after the Ameo.
The upcoming sub-4-metre vehicle will be an SUV based on the same platform as the Kylaq. It is expected to get a distinct exterior design while sharing several features and mechanical components with its Skoda sibling.
The SUV is likely to use the same 1.0-litre TSI engine, paired with a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic transmission. With Volkswagen yet to reveal many details about the upcoming SUV, more information is expected to emerge closer to its launch.
