NEW DELHI:
Punjab Police have arrested Karamveer Singh, an alleged close associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, after he was deported from Canada and arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
Singh was taken into custody by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Punjab Police said. According to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, Singh had allegedly provided logistical support and a hideout to Bishnoi’s brother Anmol Bishnoi during his stay in the US.
Police said Singh was wanted in a case registered at the State Crime Police Station in Mohali under provisions of the Indian Penal Code, Arms Act and Passport Act. An LOC against him had been issued by the AGTF on September 3, 2026.
According to the police, Singh has a criminal record involving allegations of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, extortion and weapons-related offences.
The Punjab Police described his deportation and arrest as a significant development in its investigation into transnational organised crime.
Investigators are questioning Singh to establish the alleged network’s overseas links, financial facilitators and other associates, police said.
