His daughter Vanisha Mittal’s wedding (which took place in 2005) was the sixth most expensive wedding in recorded history.

Mittal has many luxurious bungalows

However, there was a time in Mittal’s life when he lived in great poverty. At the time of Lakshmi Mittal’s birth, her father Mohanlal Mittal’s financial condition was not good. To overcome financial crisis, Mittal’s father moved to Kolkata with his family two years after his birth. He had taken a house on rent in an apartment on Chitpur Road.

Mohanlal started working in a factory in Kolkata. However, even here his conditions did not improve. Due to financial constraints, the family was not able to get food on time. Mohanlal started working harder to support the family. When the circumstances improved a bit, he thought of starting his own business and started a business named Nippon Denro Ispat. Mittal’s childhood and education took place in Kolkata only.
