Leeds United has signed Switzerland international defender Nico Elvedi from Borussia Monchengladbach on a permanent three-year deal, making him the club’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old centre-back joins Harry Wilson, Tarik Muharemovic and goalkeeper James Trafford among Daniel Farke’s new arrivals ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Elvedi spent more than a decade at Monchengladbach after joining from FC Zurich in 2015. He made 364 appearances for the German club, scoring 19 goals, with his 318 Bundesliga outings the most by a non-German player in the club’s history.

The move also reunites Elvedi with Farke, under whom he made 34 appearances during the 2022-23 season at Gladbach.
Last season, he started 33 of Gladbach’s 34 league matches and captained the side in his final appearance.
Elvedi has won 73 caps for Switzerland and featured throughout its run to the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, playing every minute of the campaign. He becomes the fourth Swiss player to represent Leeds, following Gaetano Berardi, Isaac Schmidt and Noah Okafor.
