In the politics of Uttarakhand, the phase of party-change seems to be intensifying before the assembly elections. Ramsharan Nautiyal, father of famous Bollywood singer Jubin Nautiyal and a senior BJP leader, has joined Congress. The homecoming of Ramsharan, who left Congress and joined BJP about 12 years ago, is being considered an important development in the politics of the state.

On Monday, Ramsharan Nautiyal took membership of the party in the presence of Congress' Uttarakhand in-charge Kumari Shailaja and State Congress President Ganesh Godiyal. With his decision, new discussions have started in the politics of Dehradun and Chakrata region.
Was angry at not getting respect in BJP
Ramsharan Nautiyal had said that the reason behind leaving BJP was not getting respect in the party. There were discussions going on about his distance from the party for some time. Ultimately he resigned and decided to return to Congress.
Welcoming him to Congress, Kumari Shailaja called it the homecoming of an old friend. He said that Ramsharan Nautiyal was feeling suffocated in BJP and was upset with the atmosphere of the party. Meanwhile, State Congress President Ganesh Godiyal expressed hope that his arrival will strengthen the party.

Elections were contested on BJP ticket in 2022
Ramsharan Nautiyal's political journey started from Congress. In the year 2014, he left Congress and joined BJP. After this, BJP made him a candidate from Chakrata seat in the 2022 assembly elections, but he had to face defeat. He has also been the District Panchayat President of Dehradun.
From which seat will you contest?
After joining Ramsharan Nautiyal in Congress, now all eyes are on his next political step. There is discussion that he can contest elections from Vikasnagar or Sahaspur assembly constituency. However, no official announcement has been made yet regarding his candidature.
