New Delhi: Two young stars of Indian cricket, Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi are on everyone's lips these days. The stormy batting of both has left a mark all over the world. Abhishek Sharma recently scored the fastest century for a full member team in the T20 series against Afghanistan. He completed the hundred mark in just 30 balls. Former cricketer Sandeep Patil was very impressed by this explosive innings, but he also gave important advice to both the players.
Patil's reaction on record century
Sandeep Patil said that he was not surprised by Abhishek's century. He told that the Indian team had scored 100 runs in just six overs. In modern cricket, young players have got a 'license to kill' and they are using it properly. Be it Abhishek Sharma or Vaibhav Suryavanshi, both are doing wonders.
Comparing old and new cricket, Patil said that in the 70-80s, 200 or 220 runs were considered a good score. Now that matter is over. What Vaibhav and Abhishek are playing today is modern day cricket. In future, other players will also follow them. In the beginning of T20, 160 was considered the average score, then it became 180-200. Now it won't be surprising if someone makes 250 or even 300.
Don't be a lion at home, a cat outside: Patil
Patil warned both the young players and said that their batting is respected, but when the ball starts taking some movement while playing outside India, then there is a problem. Both will have to pay special attention to this aspect and work hard. Don't just become a lion on home turf and then go out and become a cat. It should not happen.
He stressed that both have tremendous strength, quality and skill. They are also using them properly. We will have to show the same strength in foreign situations also. This aggressive approach of young players has given a new color to cricket. The advice of veterans like Sandeep Patil can prove helpful in improving them further. Now it remains to be seen whether Abhishek and Vaibhav can create the same impact in away matches also.
