Delhi: London Spirit won a memorable victory by defeating Trent Rockets by five wickets in a very exciting match. The biggest heroine of the victory was Nadine de Klerk, who remained unbeaten till the end and took the team to the target. In the last moments of the match, when 11 runs were needed from seven balls to win, he completely turned the tide of the match in his team’s favor by hitting a brilliant six on Ashley Gardner’s full toss ball. De Klerk played an important inning of 41 not out and made the team victorious.

Faltering innings after a good start
Chasing the target of 143 runs, London Spirit had a very aggressive start. Grace Harris and Amy Jones put the team in a strong position by adding 55 runs for the first wicket. Harris contributed 37 runs and Jones contributed 21 runs. However, after the consecutive dismissals of both, the team got into trouble. After this, Marizanne Kapp and Sterre Kallis also quickly returned to the pavilion, due to which the score became four wickets for 67 runs.
Mary Kelly and Nadine de Klerk showed great composure in such difficult times. Both the batsmen made an important partnership of 63 runs for the fifth wicket and brought the team back into the contest. In the end, De Klerk ensured victory by showing an excellent mix of intelligence and aggression.
Marizanne Cap’s deadly bowling
Earlier, after winning the toss, Marizanne Cap gave the first success to London Spirit who came to bowl. He gave an initial blow to Trent Rockets by dismissing Beth Mooney without opening an account. After this, Sophia Dunkley and Sophie Luff tried to control the innings by adding runs quickly, but Cap made both of them his victims. He bowled brilliantly and took three wickets.
At the same time, captain Ashley Gardner increased the team’s running pace by scoring 34 runs in 22 balls. His innings included five fours. In the end, Bess Heath played an important role in taking the score to 142 by scoring unbeaten 31 runs in 19 balls. At the time of Gardner’s dismissal, the team had lost four wickets for 95 runs. To accelerate the final overs, Georgia Alvis was retired after scoring 13 runs, but Trent Rockets could not reach the expected strong score and ultimately lost the match.
