Da Nang has been included in Lonely Planet’s “10 Best Places to Travel Between Christmas and New Year’s Eve,” with the guide highlighting the central Vietnamese city’s natural attractions, food and proximity to heritage sites.
The city combines mountains, long beaches, fresh seafood and a relaxed atmosphere. Its location also makes it a convenient base for visiting three nearby UNESCO World Heritage Sites, according to the guide.
Lonely Planet names Sun World Ba Na Hills as “Da Nang’s top attraction.” Located in the mountains outside the city, the complex is known for its European-inspired architecture, entertainment facilities and Golden Bridge.

The mountaintop complex features stone-paved squares, European-style buildings and a French Village lined with castles and pointed rooftops.
Visitors can also explore indoor attractions such as Fantasy Park and Moon Castle, or stop for pastries and coffee at Eric Kayser bakery.
The Golden Bridge, a curved pedestrian walkway supported by two giant stone-like hands, offers panoramic views of the surrounding forests and mountains, with Da Nang visible on clear days.

Beyond Ba Na Hills, Lonely Planet recommends Son Tra Peninsula, home to Linh Ung Pagoda and its 67-meter statue of the Bodhisattva of Compassion overlooking the sea.
Its coastal roads wind through forested landscapes and offer views of the shoreline.
My Khe Beach, part of a coastline stretching nearly 10 kilometers, is another highlight. Cafés, restaurants and visitor facilities line the beach, where travelers can walk, swim when conditions permit or enjoy seafood.
The guide also highlights local cuisine, recommending mi Quanga regional noodle dish typically served with shrimp, pork and fresh herbs. One suggested address is 75 Chau Thi Vinh Te Street.
Other recommendations include banh xeocrispy Vietnamese pancakes filled with shrimp and pork, at Ba Duong restaurant, and seafood at Be Man.

For accommodation, Lonely Planet suggests options ranging from city hotels to coastal resorts.
Novotel Danang Premier Han River offers views of the Han River and the city’s bridges, while InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort provides a more secluded stay overlooking Bai Bac Bay.
Lonely Planet describes the resort as “a vacation within a vacation,” citing its private beach and natural surroundings as an alternative to the city’s busier tourist areas.
The property was also named Asia’s best resort in Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2026.
