Heavy rain in Delhi-NCR on Monday has affected life in the capital and surrounding areas. Roads were flooded in many areas. Traffic seemed to be crawling on certain routes. Vehicles got stuck in water at many places. Bad weather also affected air traffic. 15 flights coming to Delhi had to be diverted. During this time, the Meteorological Department has issued Orange Alert for Delhi.
In view of the rain and waterlogging, Gurugram district administration on Tuesday, August 25 has advised corporate offices, government and private schools and institutions to provide work from home (WFH) facility to the employees. Online classes have been organized for children. According to the administration, this will reduce the pressure of vehicles on the roads. Drainage and road repair work can be done faster.
Bad conditions due to rain in Gurugram
After heavy rain of about an hour on Monday in Gurugram, waterlogging is being seen in many areas. Under the administration, about 70 mm of rain has been recorded in the district till 1:30 pm. Waterlogging has been seen in many areas including Narvingpur, Hero Honda Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Railway Road, Sector-5, Old Delhi Road, Mehrauli Road and Basai Road. The effect of waterlogging has been seen in Naharpur underpass.

Vehicles were seen stranded in water near Rajiv Chowk. At the same time, school buses and ambulances also had to pass through waterlogging on Sohna Road. Due to water logging at Sadar Bazaar, Gurudwara Road and Old Delhi Road of Old Gurugram, the traffic situation remained unchanged till afternoon.
The effect of rain was clearly visible on Delhi-Gurugram Expressway. A large part of the expressway near the Gateway Tower metro station near Cyber Hub was seen submerged.
People troubled by traffic jam
Waterlogging along with rain increased the difficulty of people commuting between Delhi and Gurugram. Vehicular movement was adversely affected in many areas including Sirhaul Border, Rajiv Chowk and Narsinghpur. Traffic police teams have been deployed here to handle the situation. The administration now aims to drain the water and normalize traffic on the affected roads.
