As soon as the assembly elections are over in 5 states including West Bengal-Assam, oil companies have drastically increased the prices of commercial cylinders (LPG Commercial Cylinder). This increase was made in 19 kg as well as 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders. Coal companies have increased the price of 19 kg commercial cylinder by Rs 993 and the price of 5 kg cylinder by Rs 261.

There was an increase in the price of Chhotu gas cylinder in the month of April also. Along with commercial, the prices of Chhotu cylinder also increased last month. On April 1, 2026, the price of this 5 kg cylinder was increased by Rs 51, which is Rs 261 per cylinder this time.

After this increase, hotel and restaurant bills will increase across the country. Besides, the prices of other food items may also increase. Apart from this, the prices of street food may also increase. Prices of everything from tea to samosas may increase.

Increase of Rs 1430 in four months

The prices of commercial cylinders had increased in the month of April also. Their prices have increased on the very first day of this month. This year there has been a big increase in the prices of commercial gas cylinders. At the beginning of the year, a 19 kg commercial cylinder was available for Rs 1669. By May 1, its price has increased to Rs 3099. That means till now there has been a total increase of Rs 1430. If we talk month wise, the price per cylinder was increased by Rs 111 in January, Rs 49.50 in February, Rs 141.50 in March and Rs 195 in April.

How to get small cylinder

This cylinder has been specially designed for those people who require small quantity of gas or who frequently shift from one place to another. Under this scheme, 5 kg cylinder is available under the name Bharat Gas Mini of Bharat Petroleum and Indane Chhotu of Indian Oil. The biggest convenience is that it is not necessary to provide address proof to buy it. You can easily buy it with just any valid government identity card like Aadhar Card, Voter ID, PAN Card or Driving License.

No increase in the price of LPG
It is a matter of relief that at present the prices of LPG have not increased. The last time the price of LPG was increased on March 7 this year. Currently the price of LPG in Delhi is Rs 913. The price of 14.2 kg LPG in Mumbai is Rs 912.50. The price of 14.2 kg LPG in Chennai is Rs 928.50. The price of one cylinder in Kolkata is Rs 939.
