Delhi Metro: Madhuban Chowk station temporarily closed, DMRC issues advisory

An important update has been issued for Delhi Metro passengers. DMRC has issued an advisory regarding Madhuban Chowk metro station located on the Red Line. According to DMRC, Gate No. 2 and Lift No. 3 (towards R Cube Mall) at Madhuban Chowk station will be temporarily closed from May 1 to May 15, 2026. This decision has been taken due to the ongoing connectivity construction work between Line-1 (Red Line) and Line-8 (Magenta Line). For the convenience of passengers, DMRC has advised them to use Gate No. 1, 3 and 4 and Lift No. 4 to travel to the station, so that any inconvenience can be avoided.

Issuing an advisory, it has been said that passengers traveling during peak hours should take extra time. According to DMRC, the use of alternate gates may increase crowding at Madhuban Chowk station, hence passengers have been advised to keep an extra time of 5 to 10 minutes to reach their destination. This arrangement has been made due to the ongoing construction work at Madhuban Chowk station on the Red Line, where some gates and lifts have been temporarily closed. Meanwhile, the work of network expansion under Phase-IV of Delhi Metro is also going on. Under this, connectivity between Red Line (Delhi Metro) (Rithala-Shaheed Sthal) and Magenta Line (Delhi Metro) (Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden) is being strengthened.

DMRC on April 29 informed on its official However, shortly afterwards DMRC issued another update saying that the technical problem has been fixed and metro services have been restored to normal on this section. According to officials, there was temporary inconvenience to passengers during this period, but the situation was quickly controlled.

Service on this line was affected on April 19

Services on the Blue Line of Delhi Metro were briefly affected due to scheduled track maintenance work on the morning of April 19. According to DMRC, this maintenance work was carried out between Indraprastha and Supreme Court stations on the Blue Line, due to which there was a slight delay in metro operations in the morning. Due to this temporary effect, the operation of other lines, especially Line 3 and Line 4, was also slightly affected and the speed of some trains was affected. However, DMRC clarified that keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, there was no change in the timing of the first trains from Dwarka to Noida Electronic City, from Dwarka Sector-21 to Noida Electronic City and Vaishali.

80 percent work completed

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had informed on April 12 that about 80 percent work of DMRC’s Phase-IV project has been completed. The Chief Minister had said this after the review meeting held with DMRC officials. In this meeting, the progress of expansion of Delhi Metro network and new lines was reviewed. According to officials, construction of several important corridors is underway under Phase-IV, which is likely to be operational by December 2026. With the opening of these corridors, the metro network in the capital will be further strengthened and passengers will get better connectivity.
