New Delhi: The start of October has brought a fresh price increase for commercial LPG users, with oil marketing companies raising the price of 19-kg cylinders from Wednesday, October 1. The increase varies across cities and comes ahead of the festive season.
For households, however, there is no change in the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder.
Commercial LPG price rises across cities
In Delhi, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased by Rs 62.50, taking the latest rate to Rs 2,810 from Rs 2,747.50 in September.
Mumbai has seen a Rs 63 increase, with the cylinder now priced at Rs 2,764. In Chennai, the rate has risen by Rs 66.50 to Rs 2,983.
Patna has recorded the highest increase among the cities highlighted, with the commercial cylinder becoming Rs 71.50 costlier and reaching Rs 3,100.50. In Lucknow, the revised price stands at Rs 2,932.50 after a Rs 62.50 increase.
Domestic LPG prices remain unchanged
The latest revision does not affect households using the standard 14.2-kg LPG cylinder.
In Delhi, the domestic cylinder continues to cost Rs 942, while the price is Rs 941.50 in Mumbai and Rs 957.50 in Chennai. In Lucknow, the rate remains Rs 979.50, while consumers in Patna continue to pay Rs 1,031.50.
Restaurants, hotels may face higher costs
The increase directly affects businesses that rely on 19-kg commercial cylinders, including restaurants, hotels, eateries and catering establishments.
The October revision follows a smaller increase in September, when commercial LPG prices in Delhi were raised by Rs 9.50. With the latest hike arriving just before the festive season, businesses that use LPG extensively will face higher cooking fuel expenses.
LPG pricing is influenced by international benchmark prices and currency movements. The latest revision, however, leaves household cooking gas prices unchanged.
