LPG Supply Update – Government made a big announcement on gas distribution, know complete information

LPG Supply: The government has issued an important update regarding LPG supply in the country, which has brought relief to the general public. According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, about 99% of LPG cylinder bookings across the country are now happening online. This means that most people are now booking gas from home via mobile or app, making the process easier and faster than ever. Let us know in detail.

Along with improvements in the booking process, the delivery system has also become more secure and transparent. Currently, more than 94.5% LPG deliveries are being done through OTP (One Time Password). This means that delivery of the cylinder is considered complete only when the customer provides the OTP, significantly reducing the risk of fraudulent delivery or transactions.

The government has also confirmed that there are no reports of gas shortage (drought) anywhere across the country. Priority is being given to LPG supply for domestic use, to ensure that every household gets gas on time. Adequate reserves of petrol and diesel have also been preserved and all the refineries of the country are working at full capacity.

The piped natural gas (PNG) sector is also witnessing rapid growth. More than 53 lakh new PNG connections have been activated since last month and infrastructure has been created for approximately 26 lakh additional connections. This brings the total number to approximately 79 lakh. Additionally, around 6 lakh new consumers have registered for PNG, indicating a gradual shift from LPG to PNG.

Interestingly, more than 42,000 consumers have left their LPG connections in favor of PNG. This change is happening most rapidly in urban areas, where piped gas is considered more convenient.

Also, the government is alert to the international situation. The Ministry of External Affairs is closely monitoring the developments in West Asia and is continuously taking measures to ensure the safety of Indian citizens. Till now thousands of Indians have been evacuated safely.

Digital transformation of the LPG supply and distribution system has enhanced both transparency and convenience. Furthermore, faster adoption of PNG can further strengthen the domestic gas system in the future.
