Amid rising tensions between the US and Iran, an LPG tanker ‘DISHA’ carrying 28 Indian crew members was attacked in Iranian waters on Friday. Following the attack on the LPG tanker, the Indian Embassy in Iran has confirmed that all Indian crew members are safe and are in constant touch with the authorities concerned.
All 28 crew members are safe.
The embassy further wrote, “The Indian Embassy in Tehran is aware that Mozambican-flagged LPG tanker ‘Disha’ was attacked in Iranian waters today. The vessel has 28 Indian crew members on board. The Embassy is in constant contact with the authorities concerned and has confirmed that all Indian crew members are safe.”
This update has come at a time when External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday stressed that attacks on sailors, civilian ships or infrastructure will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
India resisted the attack each time
Jaishankar said, ‘India insists that international waterways should be safe and unobstructed, which is fully in accordance with international law.’ The External Affairs Minister further said, ‘Attacks on seafarers, civilian vessels or infrastructure cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.’
The ongoing war between America and Iran
The US-Iran ceasefire agreement has collapsed. The 60-day ceasefire did not last even a month. Both America and Iran are attacking each other. On February 28, America and Israel attacked Iran, starting a war in the Middle East. Since then there have been several talks between the US and Iran, but no final solution has been reached yet.
