LSG flies in the storm of Rohit-Rickleton, MI executes its biggest run chase
The 47th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 was played between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), which was high-scoring. In this match held at Wankhede Stadium, LSG made a big score (228/5) when put to bat first. MI achieved this target easily by losing 4 wickets in 18.4 overs, thanks to the explosive innings of Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickleton.
This was MI’s most successful run chase in IPL. With this win he has kept his hopes of reaching the playoffs alive. MI is still at 9th position with 6 points from 10 matches. Even after winning all its remaining matches, it will have to depend on the results of other teams. Same is the case with LSG. He has lost his sixth consecutive match. Even after winning its remaining five matches, it will be able to reach only 14 points.

Record partnership between Rohit-Rickleton
Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickleton gave a great start to MI while chasing the huge target. Both of them laid the foundation of victory by making a partnership of 143 runs in 10.5 overs. Rickleton played a stormy inning of 83 runs in 32 balls, which included 6 fours and 6 sixes. After his dismissal, Rohit took charge and returned to the pavilion after taking MI closer to victory. He scored 84 runs in 44 balls with the help of 6 fours and 7 sixes.
After Rohit’s dismissal, Tilak Verma (11 runs in 13 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav (12 runs in 7 balls), who was captaining the team in the absence of Hardik Pandya, also walked out. LSG were beginning to see a glimmer of victory but Naman Dhir (23 not out in 12 balls) and Will Jacques (10 not out in 4 balls) took MI to the target with 8 balls remaining. For LSG, Mohammed Shami and Avesh Khan scored 50-50 plus runs. Mohsin Khan and M Siddharth were also expensive and spent 47-47 runs in their spell.

LSG’s innings slowed down after a stormy start
Earlier, when invited to bat first, LSG had scored 123 runs losing 1 wicket in 8 overs. Nicholas Pooran (63 runs in 21 balls) and Mitchell Marsh (44 runs in 25 balls) looked to be in dangerous mood but Corbin Bosch turned the tables by taking the wickets of both in the 9th over. After the dismissal of Pooran-Marsh, LSG could score only 103 runs in 11.1 overs, due to which it had to suffer the consequences.
