In Lucknow on Monday, members of Panchayat Adhikar Sangh demonstrated outside the residence of Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak demanding Panchayat elections. Village heads, BDCs, District Panchayat members and other representatives who arrived from different districts of the state remained standing for about two hours.

The protesters raised slogans like 'If there is no village government, there is no assembly government' and 'Conduct Panchayat elections soon'. During the meeting with the Deputy CM, the representatives with folded hands demanded declaration of the election date.
Opposition to extension after 6 months extension
Panchayat representative Anand Kumar said that the tenure of the village heads had ended on 26 May 2026. After this the government gave additional time of six months. Now this period is also about to end. He says that after this, three-tier Panchayat elections should be conducted without any delay. Citing Part-9 of the Constitution and Articles 243-E and 243-K, he said that it is necessary to hold Panchayat elections on time. According to him, the rural population of the state and lakhs of people preparing to contest elections are waiting for the date.
Anand Kumar warned that if the government did not give written assurance, the movement would be made bigger. He also talked about running a campaign against the government.

Expressed displeasure on Rajbhar also
The protesters said that the representatives are continuously getting only assurances regarding the Panchayat elections. He claimed that his organization is protesting from June 12, 2026, but the election schedule has not been cleared yet.
The protesters also expressed their displeasure on Panchayati Raj Minister Omprakash Rajbhar, saying that we consider him a useless minister. He said that the minister and the government should clarify the situation regarding the date of elections. The protesters made it clear that if elections are not announced soon, their agitation will continue further.
