Hindi Short Story: As soon as I hear the Hindi word “Mother”, my entire childhood appears before my eyes. Mother is the word with which every person’s childhood is associated. Eating from mother’s hands, sitting in mother’s lap, mother’s love, mother’s anger – my childhood is connected with all these. I don’t think of any better word than mother which is associated with a person’s childhood. My childhood was spent in the village. My mother was not educated, but everything she said taught me something or the other. He taught me to wake up in the morning and inculcated the habit of reading early in the morning. She would say, “Children, you should wake up in the morning and study in Brahma Muhurta, a person who studies in the morning does not forget quickly.”
Mother connected me to God. She used to say that without God we cannot move forward. The essence of all success lies in God and one’s hard work. Mother would ask me to go to school every day after taking bath and doing puja. Despite not being educated, she would remember many quatrains of Ramayana and would recite them to me and also tell me their meaning. She used to tell various kinds of stories at night before sleeping. My mother used to sing many folk songs. She would also teach me, be it Chhath Puja, Durga Puja or wedding songs.
She taught me all types of folk music. He taught me to respect elders and love the younger ones. My mother used to say that every person should learn all the household tasks, so that he does not have to face any problems in future.
My mother taught me to do every work on time. She taught me to value time. My mother used to discipline me a lot. She was not allowed to go out of the house much. She would inspire me to do sewing, weaving and embroidery work while staying at home. He taught me many things that help me even today.
At home, my mother prepared curd by cooking milk in an earthen pot, the sour smell of which I liked a lot and I used to eat it with great gusto. Mother’s cooked food, ghee, curd, rice takes me back to my childhood. My mother was very hard working. She was always busy in work and inspired me to work too.
Whenever my mother went to chat with someone in the evening, I too would follow her. I don’t feel like being at home without my mother even for a moment. She would get angry at his following her and say, “Children should not listen to what our elders say.” Told her to go home and study.
I was very fond of singing since childhood. I used to participate in every music competition in school and when I came back after winning the competition, my mother would be very happy, hug me and inspire me to study further. I didn’t like going to the kitchen at all, but mother used to tell me, “Who knows when some work needs to be done and I am not with you, then how will you do it? So keep learning to cook.”
In this way, my mother became the source of inspiration in my childhood and taught me important things that I would need in life today.
