Maatrubhumi Release: Salman Khan’s War Drama Reportedly Gets Government NOC After Changes

Maatrubhumi, Salman Khan’s much-delayed war drama, may finally be moving towards a theatrical release. According to a report cited by Hindustan Times, the film has received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Information & Broadcasting Ministry after undergoing substantial changes.

The film, earlier titled Battle of Galwan, was initially reported to be based on the 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley. Its journey has since included a title change, postponements and reports of uncertainty surrounding its release.

According to a source cited by Bollywood Hungama, the film underwent reshoots after the Defence Ministry reportedly raised objections to aspects of its earlier portrayal of China. The revised version is said to have a different approach and reportedly includes a more positive portrayal of India-China relations.

The reported government clearance came last week, although the film’s makers have not officially confirmed the development.

Is Maatrubhumi releasing on November 13?

The film could potentially reach cinemas on November 13, according to the report. The date is reportedly being considered by Salman Khan and the makers, with the post-Diwali period seen as a possible release window.

However, the film still has to complete the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) process. A final release date will depend on the certification process and an official announcement from the makers.

If the November 13 date materialises, Maatrubhumi would arrive roughly a week after Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part One, which is also scheduled for release around the Diwali period.

Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi: What we know

Produced by Salma Khan under Salman Khan Films, Maatrubhumi is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and features Chitrangada Singh in a pivotal role.

The project was initially announced as Battle of Galwan and was later renamed Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. The film was originally scheduled for release in April 2026 but was subsequently postponed.

While reports had earlier suggested that the project might have been shelved, the makers denied those claims and continued working on the film.

The latest report suggests that the film has now undergone significant changes before its reported government clearance. However, details of the revised storyline and the extent of the changes have not been officially disclosed by the filmmakers.
