New Delhi. Once again an important discussion is going to take place today regarding the border dispute between India and China. The 25th round of special representative level talks will be held between the two countries in Beijing. From the Indian side, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi will co-chair this conversation.
According to China's Global Times, the long-running border dispute between the two countries will be discussed in this meeting. Apart from this, there can also be discussions on mutual relations between India and China and important international and regional issues.
There was tension in relationships after 2020
There was a lot of tension in the relations between India and China between 2020 and 2024. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has also said that the main reason for this difficult period was the situation on the border. However, in recent times, the process of talks between the two countries has progressed continuously. According to China's Foreign Ministry, special representative level talks are the main medium of discussion on the border dispute. Along with this, it is also an important platform for dialogue between the two countries.
Talks took place in Delhi last year
The last i.e. 24th round of talks between Special Representatives was held in New Delhi in August 2025. During that time, both the sides had discussed border related issues in detail and agreed on many points. Now the 25th round of talks is taking place at a time when both the countries are trying to maintain peace and stability on the border. China says that at present the border situation is generally stable and both sides are maintaining contact through diplomatic and military means.
Still differences on Arunachal Pradesh
Differences between the two countries still persist on many issues. The issue of Arunachal Pradesh is also included in these. China claims Arunachal Pradesh and calls it 'Jangnan'. India has been continuously rejecting this claim of China. Jaishankar has also clearly said that peace and stability on the border is necessary to improve India-China relations. In such a situation, special attention will be kept on the conversation between Doval and Wang Yi today.
Chinese experts believe that continuing regular talks between the two countries is a sign that relations are gradually moving towards stability and improvement.
