Mahayuti’s dominance continues in Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde-Ravindra Chavan’s strategy again did wonders
Maharashtra Politics: Mahayuti’s dominance in Maharashtra politics continues even today. Since the Maharashtra Assembly elections 2024, BJP and Shiv Sena seem to be defeating their opponents on every front. Be it local body elections, Legislative Council elections or the elections of the country’s richest municipal corporation i.e. BMC. Mahayuti has once again shown the way by ousting the opposition party from power in the Thane District Central Cooperative Bank elections. That is, the strategy of Mahayuti and increasing trust among the public has maintained this trend even today.
Big strength test in cooperative sector
The election of Thane District Central Cooperative Bank was not just an election of a cooperative institution, but this election was being considered as a big test of strength of Maharashtra’s power and regional political influence. For years, the opposition camp had a strong hold on this bank, in such a situation it was not easy for Mahayuti to challenge them and remove them from the throne of power, because the grassroots network and power structure was already established in the cooperative sector. In such a situation, this election was an important opportunity for the ruling coalition government to prove its political strength, organizational capacity and strategic hold. The victory in the results made it clear that Mahayuti is not just running the government in Maharashtra, but is also continuously strengthening its hold on every important center of power.
A breach was made in the strong fort of the opponents.
The Bahujan Vikas Aghadi led by Jitendra Thakur had a strong political and organizational influence on Thane District Central Cooperative Bank for a long time. Bahujan Vikas Aghadi maintained its strong hold in the cooperative politics of Palghar-Vasai-Virar and Thane region for years, due to which this bank has been considered as its sphere of influence. In such a situation, it was not easy for Mahayuti to challenge this power structure. Mahayuti adopted a different strategy with the aim of changing the power of the bank. Despite being allies, Shinde faction of BJP and Shiv Sena turned the election into a strategic battle by fielding candidates from different panels, the benefit of which was ultimately clearly visible in the election results.
Mahayuti got absolute majority in the results
In the recently declared results, 8 candidates of BJP and 5 candidates of Shinde group were successful in winning. In this election of total 21 seats, 11 seats were needed for majority, whereas a total of 13 candidates supported by Mahayuti were successful in crossing the majority mark by emerging victorious. This victory has made it clear that the joint strategy of both the major parties of Mahayuti has given a big blow to every possibility of the opposing panel. At the same time, political analysts believe that the impact of Thane District Bank elections will not be limited to bank management only, but its message will go to the politics of entire Maharashtra. After the celebration of the ongoing victory in Mahayuti, now it is the turn to discuss the appointments on the bank chairman and other important posts, while this victory indicates that Mahayuti is preparing to further strengthen its influence in the cooperative and local government structures of the state in the coming times.
