SIR started in Delhi, more than 13 thousand BLOs will go door-to-door to verify voter list

SIR Begins in Delhi: Special Intensive Revision of Voter List i.e. SIR has started in the country’s national capital Delhi from today. The work of distributing enumeration forms has started from today i.e. June 30. More than 13 thousand BLOs will go door-to-door to verify the voter list. 13,000 BLOs will go door-to-door across the capital to verify 1.45 crore voters. The first phase of verification of voter list will continue till July 29. The draft voter list will be published on August 5. The final voter list will be published on October 7.

13 thousand BLOs will go door-to-door in all 70 assembly constituencies of Delhi and give enumeration forms to the voters. Every voter will be given two copies of the form. One copy will remain with the voter as a receipt and the other will have to be submitted to the BLO.

Booth level agents of political parties will assist voters in filling and submitting the forms. According to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi, the names of voters who do not fill this form will be removed from the draft voter list to be published on August 5. According to officials, all BLOs have been instructed to contact voters door-to-door in the early morning and evening. Instructions have also been given to BLOs that if any house is found locked, they should go there at least three times and try to contact them. After door-to-door verification under SIR, the draft voter list will be published on August 5 and the final voter list on October 7.

A day before this, Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ashok Kumar had given information about the entire matter in a press conference. The Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi had said that every existing voter will be given the Enumeration Form in duplicate. The voter will have to submit a filled form to the BLO and obtain its acknowledgement. He had said that full care will be taken to ensure that no eligible voter is left out and no ineligible person is included in the voter list. If the house is found locked then the BLO will try to go there at least 3 times. He informed that the draft of the voter list will be published on August 5. Claims and objections can be filed from August 5 to September 4. Along with this, all claims and objections will be settled by October 3.

Current Voter Statistics

If we look at the figures of current voters of Delhi, the total voters are 1,45,10,298. Of which 77,11,132 are men and 67,98,142 are women. There are 1,024 third gender voters, 76,155 physically handicapped (PWD), 3,29,130 ​​voters in the age group of 18-19 years and 192 voters aged 100 years or more.
