Maharashtra Rain : ‘Double weather crisis’ on Maharashtra! Heavy rain warning for 18 states of the country; System on high-alert

Maharashtra Rain : It has been raining continuously in Maharashtra for the past few days. This is how the crisis of rain has increased. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in 18 states of the country including Maharashtra. Citizens have been urged to be careful as two crises will hit Maharashtra at the same time.

What exactly is a ‘dual climate crisis’?

As explained by the Meteorological Department, Maharashtra is currently being affected by two different geographical and climatic conditions at the same time, which is being termed as a ‘double crisis’. The first reason for this is the low pressure area created in the Arabian Sea. Due to this, high speed monsoon winds coming from the sea towards the land are hitting the coast of the state.

Another reason is that a large rain line has formed along the coast, which is keeping these clouds at bay. Due to the combination of these two things, all the thick clouds coming from the sea are stuck on the ghats of Konkan and Sahyadri. Consequently, on one side the coastal areas (Mumbai, Thane, Konkan) There is torrential rain and flooding, while on the other side hilly areas (Ghats of Pune, Nashik) The ravines are collapsing due to heavy rains. It is called a double crisis as it has to deal with two crises of flood and landslide at the same time. Maharashtra Rain
