Mahindra Bolero Bold Edition Launched With Accessory Pack

Mahindra has been teasing us with videos of the upcoming Mahindra Bolero over the last one week. Through these videos, Mahindra hinted that it was launching an updated version of the Bolero in the market. It was actually not an updated version but a new edition that Mahindra calls Bold Edition. The Bolero Bold Edition is nothing but an updated version of the Bolero with bronze accents and accessories.

The Mahindra Bolero has always been a no-nonsense SUV or MUV with a utilitarian design, and this remains unchanged with the new update. It continues to come with a rugged-looking front end, halogen headlamps, a metal bumper grille and more. With the Bold Edition, Mahindra is offering bronze-inspired styling, which includes bronze front accents, bold side cladding, bronze alloy wheels, roof rails, black leatherette seats with bronze accents and a rear-view camera. At the time of writing this article, Mahindra has not revealed the prices for this curated accessories package. It looks like Mahindra will offer this as a dealer-level accessory pack rather than as a factory-fitted option. This would make things easier for customers, as they could opt for this package even when choosing the base variant.

As we mentioned in our earlier stories, this version gets a curated accessories package to lure customers into dealerships during the festive season. We have seen brands offer chrome and blacked-out treatments for their SUVs, but this is the first time we have seen the Bolero receive a bronze treatment as part of an official package. This is probably the reason why it is being called the Bold Edition.

The Bolero retains features such as machine-cut alloy wheels, manual air conditioning, an analogue instrument cluster, power windows for all four doors, a fabric headliner and power steering. The alloy wheels now come with bronze accents.

Last year, Mahindra introduced a compact, rectangular 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the Bolero. It supports Bluetooth and USB connectivity, along with smartphone mirroring for navigation apps such as Google Maps. With the Bold Edition, Mahindra has retained the existing system and integrated a reverse parking camera.

The halogen headlamps, fog lamps and metal bumpers are all retained as usual. We see bronze accents on the lower air dam and front grille, which give the SUV a different look. The SUV will continue to be offered as a seven-seater, with jump seats for third-row passengers. The tail-lamps are also expected to remain unchanged.

The Mahindra Bolero is powered by a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder mHawk turbo-diesel engine that produces 75 bhp and 210 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, with power sent to the rear wheels.

Mahindra updated the Bolero’s suspension setup last year, and this is expected to be carried forward to the upcoming edition. There were rumours that Mahindra might upgrade the Bolero’s suspension setup to the Davinci system, which we saw in the Thar OG. However, that did not happen.

The Mahindra Bolero is currently available in B4, B6 and B8 variants, with prices ranging from Rs 8.57 lakh to Rs 9.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The upcoming edition is also expected to be priced below Rs 10 lakh, in line with Mahindra’s competitive pricing strategy.
