Mahindra has launched the new Mahindra Thar OG in India, giving the popular 3-door Thar a major update. The starting ex-showroom price of this SUV is Rs. 10.32 lakh has been kept. Customers will take delivery of the new Thar OG from 11 October 2026, with this introductory price applicable for vehicles delivered by 30 November. It is available in 3 trims namely AXT, LXT and ZXT.
The new Thar OG has not only undergone a design change, but its platform has also undergone a major overhaul. Mahindra has used the M_Glyde 4G platform and the strength of the structure has been increased. At the rear, there is a Watts Link with Pentalink suspension. Frequency Dependent Damping and electric power steering have been tried to improve the ride quality and driving experience. It also gets extra NVH insulation to reduce noise and vibration in the cabin.

The engine options include the 2.0-litre G20 TGDi mStallion petrol engine offering 160 hp and 330 Nm of torque. The 2.2-litre D22 mHawk diesel engine produces 150 hp and 330 Nm, while the 1.5-litre D117 CRDe diesel engine produces 117 hp and 300 Nm. The 4WD variant gets Electronic Locking Differential as well as Mud, Sand and Snow modes.
In terms of looks, there is a new grille, round LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, updated bumper and new LED taillamps. The top ZXT gets 19-inch alloy wheels. 2 new colors Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue have also been added. Inside the cabin, the ZXT gets Truffle Brown leatherette seats and soft armrests with cupholders.

In terms of safety, the ZXT gets 6 airbags, including 4 HPTS airbags, ESP 9.3, disc brakes on all four wheels, front parking sensors, rear camera and TPMS. The LXT gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and cruise control. The ZXT gets more features including wireless charging, FDD and premium leatherette interior.
According to Mahindra, more than 4 lakh customers have been connected to the Thar community so far. The new Thar OG gets major changes in platform, suspension, engine, off-road technology and safety while retaining the familiar 3-door silhouette.
