The Thar OG, Thar ROXX and Scorpio-N are the three vehicles in Mahindra's SUV lineup. The recently launched 3-door Thar OG starts at ₹10.32 lakh, while the 5-door SUV Thar ROXX is available from ₹12.52 lakh. The Scorpio-N has a different layout for a larger family with a choice of 6 or 7 seats.
Thar OG: A preference for adventure and off-roading
The Thar OG is a 4-seater, 3-door SUV. It gets updates like new M_Glyde 4G platform, Rear PENTALINK suspension, Electric Power Steering and Electronic Locking Differential. 2.0-litre petrol and 1.5-litre and 2.2-litre diesel engine options are available.
If there are 4 people in the family and weekend trips, hilly roads or off-roading are the important part of use, the Thar OG's compact size can come in handy. But the 3-door design and limited boot space to get to the back seat can be a compromise in everyday family use.

Thar ROXX: A combination of family and adventure
Thar ROXX gets 5 doors and 5 seats. With 447-litres of boot space, more cabin space and more usable seats for rear passengers, it offers a more practical layout for the office, family and long highway journeys.
2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel options are available. A 4WD option is also available on the diesel. The 4WD version gets an Electronic Locking Differential and various terrain modes, so off-road capability is not compromised despite being a family SUV.

Scorpio-N: A different option for a large family
Scorpio-N is a 6 or 7-seater SUV. So its extra seating capacity becomes important for a family of more than 5 members. The boot space of the Scorpio-N is said to be 786 liters after the third row is folded.
The large body of the Scorpio-N comes in handy for family trips, long highway drives and heavy luggage. The top variant also gets features like a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, 12-speaker Sony audio, dual-zone climate control and Level-2 ADAS.
So which one for which use?
5 seats for family only and if adventure is desired with daily use 5-door design of Thar ROXX It is worth noting. The additional seating capacity of the Scorpio-N becomes important if there is regular use of 6 or 7 passengers and heavy luggage. So if you want a family of 4, off-roading and a compact 3-door SUV experience, the Thar OG is different. Mahindra also positions these three models according to different usage needs.
