Desk: Mahindra is preparing to introduce its popular lifestyle SUV Thar 3-Door in a new avatar soon. According to reports, the company may introduce the new Thar at its annual Freedom Drive event around August 15. Last year, minor changes were made in Thar, but this time the company is preparing to give many major updates in the SUV.
If media reports are to be believed, many changes can be seen in the new Thar 3-Door, from design to safety and comfort. The special thing is that the rough and powerful style of the SUV will be kept the same as before. However, its cabin and features can be made more premium than before.
The biggest update in the new Mahindra Thar could be ADAS i.e. Advanced Driver Assistance System. Front camera was seen behind the windshield in some vehicles seen during testing. From this it is believed that ADAS features can be provided in the new Thar. This may include features like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control. This will help in increasing safety while driving. With this update, Thar will come closer to Mahindra's new SUVs like Thar Roxx and Scorpio-N.
Big changes can also be seen in the cabin of the new Thar. The existing analog instrument cluster can be replaced with a 10.25-inch fully digital TFT instrument cluster. Apart from general information like speed and fuel, information related to navigation, off-roading, mileage and important alerts related to the vehicle can also be seen on this screen. The option of different display layouts can also be available in it. Premium Harman Kardon audio system can be provided for music and entertainment in the new Thar. This may make the cabin of the SUV feel more premium and comfortable than before.
Changes can also be made in the design of the new Thar, however, its boxy and rough look will remain intact. It can be given a new grille, round LED projector headlamps and C-shaped DRLs. Apart from this, the front bumper can also be introduced with a new design. New dual-tone alloy wheels have also been seen on the SUV during testing. A 5-spoke design can be given in these. These are expected to be 18 inches, while 19 inch alloy wheels can be found in the expensive variants. New LED taillights and changed bumper can be found at the rear. With this, the look of Thar will become more modern than before, but its rugged identity will remain intact.
The features that customers have been demanding for a long time can also be found in the new Thar 3-Door. Ventilated front seats can be provided in it. This feature is already available in Thar Roxx. This feature can prove especially useful in hot weather. Automatic climate control can also be provided in place of manual AC in the new Thar. This will help in automatically setting the temperature inside the vehicle. This feature will help in making the SUV more comfortable and premium. Overall, in the new Mahindra Thar 3-Door, the company is paying special attention to safety, technology, comfort and design. If all these features make it to the production model, the new Thar could be much more premium than before.
