Main accused arrested in NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case
New Delhi:The Central Bureau of Investigation has got a big success in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case which has become a topic of discussion across the country. The investigating agency has arrested the alleged mastermind of this case. The accused has been identified as P.V. Kulkarni, who was working as a chemistry lecturer in Pune and was involved in the examination process.
What did CBI claim?
CBI claims that Kulkarni had access to the exam question papers and he took advantage of this to send questions to the students before the exam. According to the investigating agency, in the last week of April 2026, the accused had specially gathered some students. He was helped in this work by a woman named Manisha Waghmare, who has already been arrested. CBI investigation has revealed that Kulkarni had organized secret classes for students at his home in Pune. In these classes, he used to tell the students the possible questions, their options and the correct answers, which the students used to note down in their notebooks.
The most important evidence in the case was found when the questions written in the notebooks of the students were matched with the question paper of the actual NEET-UG exam held on May 3, 2026. The investigation found that many questions matched completely. After this the CBI came to the conclusion that the source of the paper leak was linked to the examination system itself.
Kulkarni arrested from Pune
After lengthy interrogation and technical investigation, CBI arrested Kulkarni from Pune. He is said to be originally a resident of Latur, Maharashtra. The agency is now trying to find out how many more people were involved in this network and in which states this gang was spread.
In the last 24 hours, CBI has conducted raids in many states and seized documents, mobile phones and electronic devices. Their forensic investigation is being done so that the working of the entire racket can be brought to light. The investigating agency says that lakhs of rupees were taken from the students and they were included in these “special classes”, where preparation was done for the leaked questions.
CBI has so far arrested a total of seven people in this case. The arrests have been made from many cities including Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune and Ahilyanagar. Five accused have been sent on seven-day police remand, while two other accused are being brought to Delhi on transit remand. The agency says that the investigation is progressing rapidly and many big revelations may be made in the coming days.
