Maine Kya Bigaada Hai? Anupam Kher Reacts To BJP Leader’s ‘Bald’ Jibe At TMC
Mumbai: A light-hearted political jab in West Bengal has unexpectedly pulled veteran actor Anupam Kher into the spotlight.
West Bengal BJP chief Samik Bhattacharya made a sarcastic remark referencing the actor’s signature bald look while targeting the Trinamool Congress (TMC) following the party’s heavy defeat in the 2026 Assembly elections. Kher responded with a sharp yet light-hearted “Maine kya bigaada hai?” remark, questioning why he was being dragged into the political exchange.
While addressing press a day after the Bengal poll results on Tuesday, the BJP leader said, “Aasman jameen pe aa sakta hai, samundar aasman pe chadh sakta hai, Anupam Kher ke sir pe phir se baal aa sakta hai, lekin Trinamool Congress satta me aaye ho hi nahi sakta hai (Even the impossible might happen: the sky may fall to the ground, the sea may rise to the sky, even Anupam Kher’s bald head might grow hair, but the TMC will never return to power in Bengal)”.
Reacting to the comment, Anupam took to his Insta handle and wrote, “Arre bhaiya ji! Maine aapka kya bigaada hai! Kyun aap chahte ho ki mere sir par baal aa jaayein! Maujooda halaat mein janmon tak nahi chaahunga! Jai Shri Ram! (Hey brother! What harm have I done to you? Why do you want hair to grow on my head! In the current situation, I wouldn’t want that even in a hundred lifetimes! Jai Shri Ram!).”
His response amused many on social media, with actor-politician Kangana Ranaut also reacting with laughing emojis.
Lauding Kher’s sense of humour, one user wrote, “Overall He Loves you and Modi Ji both so can’t hide his feelings.”
Another commented, “What a hilarious reply sir.”
A third added, “Actor so goated, that people have started giving examples of him.”
The comment followed the BJP’s massive victory in the Bengal polls, with the party winning 207 of the 293 seats. In contrast, the TMC’s numbers fell sharply to 80 seats, down from its commanding 215-seat tally in 2021. The BJP, which had secured only 77 seats in the previous election, registered a significant surge in its performance this time.
On the work front, the veteran actor will next be seen in ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla 2’, helmed by Prashant Bhagia.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Savita Raj Hiremath and Raj Hiremath, the film is a sequel to the 2006 cult classic and also stars Boman Irani, Parvin Dabas and Ranvir Shorey in key roles.
It is slated to release in theatres on August 28.
