Big action by Delhi Police: Interstate child trafficking racket busted, 10 more accused arrested, 9 innocent children rescued

Central District Police of Delhi Police has achieved great success by busting the interstate child trafficking racket. 10 more accused have been arrested in the case. The arrested accused include biological parents, smugglers, middlemen, buyers and a hospital operator. Police have so far rescued a total of 9 children safely, while the search for other members of the syndicate is going on.

Red handed arrest near RK Ashram metro station

According to the police, on June 5, the Anti Narcotics Cell of the Central District, while taking action near RK Ashram Metro Station in Paharganj, arrested Jyoti alias Kamlesh, Shalu and Lalit while bargaining for a newborn baby. A token amount of Rs 20 thousand was also recovered from the spot.

Organized gang revealed in SIT investigation

Considering the seriousness of the matter, SIT was formed under the leadership of ADCP Prashant Chaudhary. Interrogation, technical surveillance and investigation of bank transactions revealed that the gang used to buy newborn babies from economically weak families and sell them to childless couples or people wishing to have a son for lakhs of rupees.

Who all got arrested?

During investigation, ASHA worker Jyoti alias Kamlesh of Gurugram was found to be the main middleman. Shankar, a resident of Sabarkantha, Gujarat, used to supply babies, while Sugnaben and Kantibhai Gamar had sold their child to the gang. Garima Jain and Satish Jain, residents of Rohini, Delhi, bought the newborn for Rs 8 lakh. Ketki Gupta of Rishikesh bought the child for around Rs 4 lakh, Abha Singh and Amit Pratap Singh of Haridwar bought the child for around Rs 5 lakh. Retired teacher Ram Prakash Nishad is accused of buying a child in the year 2025.

9 children rescued safely, investigation continues

Police also safely recovered four other children from Rohini, Rishikesh, Mathura and Haridwar. These include children aged between 16 days to 1 year 1 month. The process of protection and rehabilitation has been started by presenting all the 9 children before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

No IVF or surrogacy angle, investigation into money trail continues

No angle related to IVF or surrogacy has come to light so far in the investigation. Police are investigating illegal transactions worth several lakhs of rupees. Based on money trail of bank accounts and technical evidence, biological parents from Gujarat and Delhi have been identified. Police say that soon other members of this syndicate may also be arrested.
