ED raids Shekhar Suman’s friend’s premises, what has been found so far?
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has started an investigation under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) against actor Shekhar Suman’s associate Dharmesh Sangani. Dharmesh Sangani is a film producer and director of Kalani Impex Pvt. Ltd. On Thursday, ED teams raided the premises of Dharmesh Sangani and Kalani Impex Limited.
Sangani’s companies are accused of having undeclared assets abroad and various financial irregularities. Enforcement Directorate said that this search operation has been conducted in relation to undeclared foreign company, violations related to export income and foreign bank accounts.

Also associated with Shekhar Suman Academy
Businessman Dharmesh Sangani is engaged to actor and TV host Shekhar Suman. He is the co-founder of Shekhar Suman Academy. ED said Sangani was identified as a film actor. During the raid, information about undeclared assets and bank accounts abroad was found.
Officials said Sangani tried to throw his phone from the 13th floor of the building during the investigation. However, he was later recovered. Mumbai Police has filed a complaint against him on charges of destroying evidence.
Didn’t even get the export amount
ED said that during the search it was found that the money received in India had not reached the country despite a lot of time having passed. Export proceeds have not been received from some foreign buyers and extension of time limit has not been requested from the Authorized Dealer Bank. No documentary evidence of any recovery attempt has been found.

Also got stake in Canadian company
Investigation has also found Sangani’s major stake in an undisclosed company in Canada. Apart from this, foreign bank accounts have also been found in UAE, Canada and America. A case related to customs is also under investigation in Britain and America. Britain’s Border Force had seized 7.4 kg of gold jewelery from Sangani in 2016. This action was taken due to less quantity of gold being reported.
