Major action by Gujarat ATS: 8 suspects associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed arrested, conspiracy to create terrorist network foiled

Ahmedabad. In a major action, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested eight suspects having alleged links with the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed. These accused were detained from various districts of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Police claim that the accused were involved in a conspiracy to create an active terrorist network in the state.

According to a senior ATS official, all eight accused were arrested during a joint operation on Thursday. Preliminary investigation has revealed that they were actively working for the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed and were trying to establish a network of the organization in Gujarat.

Police said a case has been registered against the accused under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA) and relevant sections of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS). A thorough investigation of the case is going on and the agencies are trying to find out who the accused were in contact with and how wide was the scope of their activities.

ATS officials say that the evidence and digital material found during the investigation is being analyzed. It is also being ascertained what kind of support the accused were getting from any foreign terrorist network and whether other people associated with this module are also active. Security agencies are investigating the entire matter from every aspect. At present, detailed information regarding any other arrest or recovery has not been shared.
