Khanna, Ludhiana- Under the 'War Against Drugs' campaign of the Punjab Government, major action has been taken during the anti-drug campaign being conducted under the leadership of SSP Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia in Police District Khanna. Khanna Police and Health Department, in a joint action, recovered 460 banned Pregabalin 300 mg capsules on charges of selling drugs under the guise of a medical store near Gurudwara Sri Manji Sahib. After the action the medical store was also sealed.
Police has made it clear that anyone selling intoxicating or banned medicines under the guise of a medical store will not be spared. Khanna Police, in coordination with other departments, is continuously monitoring such stores and illegal sale of drugs.
According to the information, the Health Department team led by Drug Inspector Sandeep Kaushik raided Grewal Medical Store with the help of Khanna Police. A total of 460 capsules of Pregabalin 300 mg were recovered during the investigation. When asked for records related to the sale of these medicines, the chemist could not present any satisfactory record.
Police arrested chemist Rachpal Singh, resident of village Kot Panech, current resident of Guru Harikrishna Nagar, Khanna, on the spot. According to the police, apart from 460 capsules, drug money worth Rs 16,500 was also recovered from the possession of the accused. After this the medical store was immediately sealed and the store will remain closed till further orders.
Drug Inspector Dr. Sandeep Kaushik said that the previous criminal record of Rachpal Singh has also come to light. According to him, on August 12, 2023, a case was registered against him under the NDPS Act, in which drugs were recovered. In this case, he remained in Ludhiana jail for about four months and was released on 8 December 2023. Now this action has been taken after again receiving complaints regarding selling of drugs.
Dr. Sandeep Kaushik said that the department will also take action to cancel the license of the medical store of the accused. He warned that strict legal and departmental action will be taken against any medical store operators who are violating the rules and selling banned medicines as intoxicants.
SSP Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia said that Khanna Police's war against drugs will continue. Drug sellers try to run their illegal business by any means, but they cannot escape the clutches of the law. He said that such actions will continue with the cooperation of other concerned departments including the Health Department. On this occasion, Special Branch Incharge Jarnail Singh, Sadar Police Station SHO Pavitra Singh and Lady Sub-Inspector Jaspreet Kaur and other police officers were also present.
