Cape Town. At least 21 people were killed in a multi-vehicle collision in South Africa's Western Cape province on Sunday night. Many people have been seriously injured in the accident. According to officials, the accident occurred after a head-on collision between two minibus taxis. After this, an SUV also collided with both the vehicles, due to which the accident became more serious.
According to the Road Traffic Management Corporation, the accident happened between Prince Albert and Lieu-Gamka in the Western Cape province. This place is about 380 kilometers east of Cape Town. The agency said the death toll was subject to change as emergency services and authorities in the Western Cape continued to assess the scene. Police said that three people injured in the accident were taken to the hospital, but on reaching there they were declared dead.
According to the Western Cape Mobility Department, the accident is initially believed to have started from a head-on collision between two minibus taxis. After this an SUV collided with them. After the accident, the area of the N1 highway was closed. Road Traffic Management Corporation has started investigating the matter.
