Big earthquake in American politics, impeachment motion presented against Defense Minister Pete Hegseth, attack on girls school in Minab, Iran called ‘war crime’

New Delhi. Amid the ongoing war in the Middle East, there has been a major upheaval in American politics. An impeachment resolution has been introduced in the US Parliament against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in the Trump administration. He is accused of waging war against Iran without Congressional approval and carrying out attacks that could be classified as “war crimes.”

This proposal has been introduced by House Democrats under the leadership of Yasamin Ansari. They claimed that Hegseth violated his oath of office, endangered American troops and did not follow international law. The most serious allegation is regarding the attack on a girls school in Minab area of Iran.

According to reports, approximately 170 schoolgirls, including teachers, were killed in the attack on February 28. Initial investigation revealed that the US Tomahawk Missile accidentally fell on this school. Democrats say such attacks violate the rules of war. The first article of impeachment alleged that Pete Hegseth initiated military action against Iran without a formal declaration of war. According to American law, only Congress has the right to wage war, not any single official.

Apart from this, he is also accused of using controversial military methods like ‘double tap’ strikes, in which the same target is attacked twice. Critics say this increases the risk of civilian casualties.

Democrats also alleged that Hegseth mishandled sensitive military information and shared information related to attacks in Yemen through a commercial messaging app, creating a security risk. However, the possibility of this impeachment resolution being passed is considered very low, because the Republican Party has a majority in the House of Representatives. Despite this, this step is considered very important politically, because it can increase pressure on Donald Trump Administration. The Pentagon has rejected these allegations and called it a political stunt. He says the military operation in Iran has achieved its objectives and the action was necessary under national security.
