  • Fresh coriander: 1 cup
  • Fresh mint: ½ cup
  • Green chillies: 3-4 (according to spiciness)
  • Ginger: 1 inch piece
  • Garlic: 7-8 cloves
  • Thick curd: ½ cup
  • Lemon juice: 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Garam Masala: ½ tsp
  • Black pepper powder: ½ tsp
  • Salt: as per taste
  • Oil or Ghee: 3-4 tbsp

method of making

step 1
First of all take a mixer grinder jar. Add fresh coriander, mint leaves, green chillies, ginger and garlic. Add a little water or one spoon curd to it and grind it to form a fine, smooth paste.

Step 2
Take washed chicken pieces in a large bowl. Add prepared green paste, whipped curd, lemon juice, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, black pepper powder and salt. Mix everything well with the chicken with your hands so that each piece gets a good coating of the spices. Cover it and keep it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Step 3
Place a wok or pan on the gas and heat oil or desi ghee in it. When the oil is hot, add the marinated chicken pieces to the pan. Fry the chicken for 7-8 minutes on medium to high flame, until its color turns light golden.

Step 4
Now add the remaining marination paste and about half a cup of water into the pan. Mix it well and slow down the gas flame. Cover the pan and let the chicken cook for 15-20 minutes. Keep stirring occasionally so that the spices do not stick to the bottom.

Step 5
When the chicken is completely cooked and the gravy thickens and starts releasing oil from the sides, turn off the gas. Your wonderful and aromatic Hariyali Chicken is completely ready.
