Lifestyle Desk – Constant breakage, hair fall or hair appearing thinner than before is a concern of many people these days. In such situations, people try different oils, serums and home remedies for hair care. If you are also looking for an easy home option for hair care, then you can use oil prepared from pumpkin seeds. Protein, fatty acids, vitamins and many other nutrients are found in pumpkin seeds. This is the reason why the oil prepared from them can be included in the general care routine of scalp and hair. However, it is important to understand that home-made pumpkin seed oil is not a cure for hair fall. There can be many reasons behind continuous or excessive hair fall. Let us know how to make this oil at home and the benefits of using it.
How to make pumpkin seed oil at home?
To make oil from pumpkin seeds, first take a cup of clean and dry pumpkin seeds. Keep in mind that there should be no moisture in the seeds. Dry roast them on low flame for a few minutes. Do not roast the seeds on very high flame, as this may cause them to burn. Now let the roasted seeds cool completely. After this, put them in the mixer and grind them finely. Pour the prepared powder into a pan and add enough coconut or olive oil to submerge the mixture well.

Heat this mixture on very low flame for some time. Keep stirring occasionally, so that the seeds do not stick to the bottom and burn. When the aroma of seeds starts appearing in the oil and the mixture gets heated well, turn off the gas. After the mixture cools down, filter it with the help of a clean cotton cloth or a fine sieve. The prepared oil can be stored in a clean and dry glass bottle.
How to apply in hair?
Before using pumpkin seed oil, take a small amount on the palm of your hand. Apply it gently on the scalp with the help of fingers and massage for a few minutes. After this, the oil can also be applied on the length of the hair. Leave it on the hair for about 30 minutes to an hour and then wash it with normal shampoo. Try applying a small amount when using it for the first time. If you feel itching, burning, redness or any kind of allergy, stop using it.
Will this stop hairfall?
This is the most important thing. Pumpkin seed oil can be used for hair care, but it should not be considered a proven cure for hair loss. Hairfall may be due to genetic reasons, stress, nutritional deficiency, hormonal changes, problems like thyroid or scalp related conditions.
If there is sudden excessive hair fall, the scalp is visible, hair is falling in round patches or the problem is persistent, then it is better to consult a dermatologist instead of relying only on home remedies.
