Kharge took oath along with 7 other MPs at the Parliament House on Monday. Once again he has reached Rajya Sabha after being elected from Karnataka. During the swearing in of Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi, Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha JP Nadda, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and many senior leaders and dignitaries were present. During the discussion, Minister Kiren Rijiju recalled his political journey and said that by now he too would have been a five-time MP.

According to media reports, during the discussion itself, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju asked how long had Kharge been in Parliament. Answering Rijiju’s question, Arjun Meghwal said that this is his fourth term. Meghwal further said that before this the Congress leader had served as an MP in the Lok Sabha twice and now he is coming to the Rajya Sabha as an MP for the second time. After this, BJP leader Nadda told that Kharge served in the Karnataka Assembly for 9 terms before coming to the Parliament.

According to media reports, after the answers of Meghwal and Nadda, Minister Rijiju gave a very interesting answer. Recalling his political journey, he said that if Congress had not defeated him in the 2009 elections, this would have been his fifth term in the Lok Sabha.

Let us tell you, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju started his innings as a Lok Sabha MP in the year 2004. After this, during the Lok Sabha elections in 2009, he contested from Arunachal West seat, but he had to face defeat from the Congress candidate by 1314 votes.

The MPs who took oath as Rajya Sabha members on June 25 included Praveen Chakraborty, Debashish Samantrai, Sana Satish Babu, Vijay Chintakayala, Bhashyam Ram Krishna, Lingamaneni Ramesh, Rajesh Parmanand Shukla, Baidyanath Ram, Parimal Nathwani and Tai Tagak.
